As the nights draw in it's always good to have things to look forward to and we are looking forward to connecting with members old and new at our 2024 autumn event series:
Take a sneaky peek at Net Gain!
On 9th October we will be heading to Wethersfield, Essex for a behind the scenes tour of 'Wildfell' - a trailblazing new Biodiversity Net Gain site on 300 acres of former arable land. Having helped establish 8 ponds here for the DLL scheme, we are keen to see what else owners Ground Control have been up to at the site and hear from CLA's Andrew Marriot on what landowners should be aware of when approaching Net Gain for the first time.
Hedge your best!
The following week (on 15th Oct) we are at Kimpton, Herts, considering how we make the most of the improved SFI and Capital Grant opportunities to manage hedgerows better on-farm. With speakers from Catchment Sensitive Farming, Hedgelink and of course FWAG East, it promises to be a one-stop-shop to bring yourself up to date on hedgerow management. So do book on and spend a morning with some of the country's leading hedgerow experts, including farm walk and lunch.
Dust off your billhooks!
Continuing on the hedgerow theme - and for those who like to get a little more hands on with their hedgerows - we head to Hedgelife at Abbess Roding in Essex on 20 November for a workshop on the ancient craft of hedgelaying aimed at curious, hedge-conscious farmers and land managers. Hot drinks and snacks will keep us going between plashes.
FWAG East Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) Roadshow
Coming to a village hall near you, we are planning to repeat our popular SFI Roadshow this winter by holding more free events in each county to demonstrate how SFI can work best on your farm. Bring all your SFI queries and frustrations and our advisers will be on hand to trouble-shoot, motivate and suggest practical solutions (and generally take the headache out of SFI!). Details will be confirmed next month.
Visit our events page to book your place at any of these events - we look forward to seeing you this autumn!
